Guess who *finally* got their acceptance letter?

2.27.2011

Can you say "I'm getting out of Cedar!"?
I can.
I'm getting out of Cedar!
Love, Your excited Kalynn.

Okay..

2.25.2011

Surprisingly* (notes at bottom), I have been approached by many different people
with questions about my church, and about my beliefs
(or "cult practices" to those psycho analytical deuchefags.)
So. I will clarify things. If you are unsure, post your questions,
and I will answer them to the best of my ability.
Alright. Here goes nothing.

What ARE you?
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints;
or, in essence, a Mormon. Big shocker there, I know.
Didn't the anticipation just kill you?

Who is Joseph Smith?
Joseph Smith was the founder of the restored church, thus a prophet. As
a young boy, he was confused as to which practicing faith held true
to divine ties. While reading the Bible, He came across a verse which
explained that those who question need to pray to receive revelation of the truth.
So he went deep into the quiet woods near his house, and prayed. He was then visited by
two glorious beings: Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ; who, in valor to his severe and earnest intent,
explained to him that there was no true church, because the teachings had become to manipulated.
Joseph knew that what he had seen had heard were true (as do i) and he became the prophet of the restored
Church of Christ. He was visited by the Angel Moroni, who taught him about the Golden Plates.
He eventually was able to translate these ancience records, and the Book of Mormon was created.
{sorry this is so brief... and abridged... and colloquial...}
There's no way that happened, Kalynn....?
Umm..well...false. There is. And it did happen. Simply. Don't even
try to tell me I'm brain-washed. To those of you who have a problem with the Joseph Smith sketch,
think about this. So. Per se he was bored one day, and decided to write a book and establish his own religion
for his very own glory-trip. Okay, I can see where you're coming from. But, soon after, he began to be tarred and feathered,
his family whom he loved and treasured was put at risk. He was imprisoned in the most unfair and harsh conditions,
and starved unto the near point of death. ALright. Personally, this would probably be where I'd deliver my "jokes on me" punchline.
But he didn't. Even those who bore record of the plates themselves never denied them. Two of the three witnesses were
excommunicated for various personal reasons, and STILL testified of the truth of these great doctrines.
It's an incredible thing.
Isn't the Book of Mormon boring?
I won't lie to you. There are parts of the Book of Mormon that are pretty difficult to get through. Good things it's true,
because there is no way I could sit through a 531 pages story of death and war if I didn't feel an overpowering
validation of its truths and wonderful teachings. :) So, with that knowledge, the book is simply AMAZING.
I highly suggest you read it so you can see for yourself. Even you, Emily Cap and Jared Dahl, whether
it be in the dark of the night, or cozied in an attic. :P Just kidding. However, I have multiple copies and
I know lots of people with great insight if anyone's interested.
I'll finish later, I'mma go home to my mama now. :)
It's all about faith and testimony, kiddos.
Love, Kalynn Eve.
NOTES:
* I only say surprisingly, because I AM still in Utah. Who knew SUU would be filled with so many haters?

Good news

don't forget it, kiddos. :)
Love, Kay.

You deserve the best.

2.22.2011

rinse. lather. repeat.

2.21.2011

bad news.
I have been sick for a week and JUST got over it two days ago.
but guess what?
When I get sick, the boyfriend gets sick.
I hope it doesn't end up working both ways.

Also, can I just say that Adam left today
and I miss his presence already.
That very new returned missionary brought such a
fantastic spirit into our dorms.
I hope it lasts all semester.
Thanks for everything, Adam.

Love, Kalynn.

I adore Sundays.

“He is your beloved Heavenly Father,
who seeks your good, your happiness.
He desires with all the love of a perfect and pure Father
that you reach your supernal destination. . . .
All you have to do is trust your Heavenly Father.
Trust Him enough to follow His plan.”

Happy Sabbath, Everyone! :)
Love, Kay.

Reaching for summer.

2.19.2011

literally.
Thoughts of summertime consume my mind 24/7.
10 reasons why I'm ridiculously anxious for summer:

1: Reading, outside, on a blanket with the warm sun beaming down on you. It's such a great feeling.
2: Picnics. I've already promised/ warned the boyfriend that he will become very fond of them.
3: Swimming! and actually being tan. I hate this layer of whiteness all over me.
4: Summer foods! Cherries, strawberries, pineapple, watermelon, blackberries, banana smoothies....mmmm.
5: Summer dresses and shorts. iiiii misssss themmmmm.
6: you can always do cool things like...wake up early to watch the sunrise on Dixie rock, without freezing to death.
7: BBQ's. 'nough said.
8: Bike rides! I love tandem biking with Matthew in the summertime. It's the best thing ever.

9:
night-time bonfires. camping in the backyard. making s'mores with Reeses.10: Driving with the windows down, sunglasses on, music blasting...

How much longer must we endure this frigid weather?

Amongst all these farewells, it's been nice to have someone RETURN from a mission.

2.18.2011

And that someone is my dear brother, Adam.
And he loves me so much that he came down to Cedar City
JUST to visit me!
/slash/
to take my hot roommate out on a date...

haha. :) I told you I've been doing some matchmaking.
First, we all climbed up to St. George's ocean and chilled
*literally*
for a bit before we headed on over to Iceberg for some delicious shakes.

And...guys...how long has it been you've all been lazer tagging and glow-in-the-dark mini-golfing?
years? Centuries? I know, right?! But it was so much fun!
I missed that Lazer Mania place.

also. Matthew makes my heart happy. Now just TRY and tell me that they wouldn't make a cute couple.
Cross your fingers with me!

I could totally deal with that girl being around for forever.

Here's to a three day weekend! I hope you all enjoy yours. :)
Love, Kalynn.

I'm a sucker for family.

2.09.2011

I hope that doesn't come across weirdly.
All I'm sayin' is this:

A couple of weeks ago, I went to visit my sister in St. George. I promised the boyfriend I would be back at 8:00 so we could hang out that night. But when it comes time for me to leave, I shoot a text to Matthew and ask for forgiveness, because I just HAVE to stay ONE more hour. The same thing happens the next hour. When I text him at 10:00, he reminds me that I had a purpose in going to St. George: To pick up a book we ordered and had sent there; a book he was selling that night to some other kid in his class. So I told him to tell the kid he could have it by 11:00. at 10:30, knowing already that I'll be a half an hour late...I begrudgingly leave mi hermana's casa.

And then take yesterday for example. I came home Monday night in order to pick up Adam from the airport on Tuesday. And it has been SO much fun seeing him again. A girl needs her big brother around; She really does. Anyway. Adam has no wardrobe. No one knows where all his clothing went.
[What's that you ask? Did I steal his clothing over the past two years to use as p.j.'s? ....um...that's not important.]
So the plan was we'd drive to the mall separately, and I would just drive to Cedar City from Provo when we were done shopping. So I pack up my suitcase and my pillows and stick them in my car and we're off. We have a lovely time shopping and I help him get some great clothes. He is one attractive man, ladies. I'm seriously tellin' ya. He's a looker. Tangent. Sorry. But...we're having such a good time together...and it's SO great to just be with him...that...I couldn't leave. We finished shopping and I just drove straight back to my house in Pleasant Grove.
[What's that you ask? Don't I have school commitments? Tests? Assignments? .......um..well...i GUESS, but quickly ask me if I find those things important. Especially when compared with my brother.]

So yeah. I'm a sucker for family. Sadly, I really DO have to leave today at noon...:( But no worries, guys. I'm coming back Friday and then Adam is all mine. :)

Excepting the hot date he has Friday at 7:00...

one word.

2.06.2011

"Perhaps imagination is only intelligence having fun."

Lately, I've had a lot of fun:

Eating at Brick Oven with Matthew.

Kicking butt in Black Jack at Casino Night.

Going to each of our favorite pizza places.
Kay: Little Caesars.
Matt: Papa Murphy's.
Em: Pizza Hut.

Playing Black Jack Dare, and having to stand in Alex's toilet...
yuck.

Watching Alex and Emily suck at suck or blow, and ending up having to kiss.
:]
I'm a fetchin' matchmaker. da best in da town, yo.

Getting cute notes from Emily to brighten my morning.

What do you have fun doing?

Adam countdown: 2 days!!!

Little Gems.

2.03.2011

I can't get over the potential I see in the people I am surrounded by.
I hope they can see it in themselves..

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Right now, Matthew is making me "good-luck pancakes"
because I have a history test first thing in the morning.

:]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So today we're snowboarding, right?
And you know how sometimes the person who happens to be working at the lift
will rake the unloading area before people get off?
Well, the lady working at it today had no common sense.
She kept raking the snow right where I was supposed to get off.
Right as I set my board on the ground, she sticks her rake underneath my board!
Needless to say, I took a fall and it was not a good one.
Smash head on lift and then on rock-hard ice? check.
Whiplash? check.
Everlasting headache? check.
blehhh...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adam comes home in 5 days!!preeeetty stoked, folks.

My dear brother,

2.02.2011

I hope you realize all that I am doing for you,
so as to be able to see you the very day you get home.
That day I was scheduled to take three tests.
Yes, three.
Luckily, my teachers understood and they are willing to work with me.
However, it's been a lot of work on my part!
I had to move one of those tests clear up to today.
(I don't know if you noticed, but that's like..an entire week early.)
PLUS, it was a math test.
So I had to work ahead and do all the sections we'd be doing for the next week,
finish them early enough to turn in and have time to study before I took the test today.
Not to mention that my teacher assigns at least 50 problems every night.
And you know how good I am at math...
It's been a party.
I'm tellin' ya.
Anyway. I do think I kicked that test in the butt.
But I'll have to wait and see.
I feel like..so often when I think I've totally aced a test, it comes back to me....not aced.
Anyway.
One down, two to go.
All for you, Adam.
And to think you didn't even write me the last time you had a chance...

motto.
