AHA-moments. I've been having a lot of those lately. Sometimes it's like Heavenly Father drops the entire A-Z set of Encyclopedia Britannica on my head. The comedic sketch of my life as of late: "Ooh, you're SO right, Heavenly Father..you're so very right." "Yes, Kalynn, you should probably start hearkening unto my word the first time I tell you these things, it'll save you lots of time and effort..you know, since I created you and I know everything..I kind of know what's going on a little bit better than you do..."

I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I love the ability we all have to receive our own personal revelation directly from our Father in Heaven. I love the power of faith and bear a solemn witness of the power the gospel has to change the very nature of our being. I'm a living witness of said mighty change of heart. But then again, I think most of are.

Honesty is the best policy.

Once upon a time, 14-year-old-Kalynn thought it would be funny to try to sign up as an EFY counselor. So she got on the BYU website, filled out the application, and simply changed her birth year to an older one. A few years later, 18-year-old-Kalynn decides that BYU is the college for her. She sends an application: denied. She felt like she had done well enough on the ACT and in high school to get in, so she appeals her application. She gets a letter from BYU: "It looks like we switched your ACT score with another Kalynn Eve Petersen who has your exact birthday, except a few years older. However, we have received a record number of applicants this year, and we still cannot accept you. Please re-apply again next semester." Being the stubborn woman I am, I just decided that I wasn't supposed to go there, and went on down to SUU.

Fast forward to present.

Yesterday I went down to BYU to see if they had received my transcripts yet. I'd sent them about 4 times, but BYU kept saying that hadn't received them. So I went to see what the big idea was. When they said that they still hadn't gotten them, I told them about the mix up that happened the first time I tried to apply there, and asked them to check if my transcripts were sent to that other mysterious Kalynn Eve Petersen. Guess what? MY transcripts WERE sent to her! My counselor thought it was so weird that there was this other girl with my exact name and birthday, that she asked me what the last four numbers of my SSN were. Hm. Same as this other Kalynn's.

Here's what's going on. TWO versions of ME exist on BYU's records. I was competing with MYSELF to get in the first time! One of my records applied to BYU without any ACT score at all, the other applied with my ACT. The half of me that I didn't know about got accepted! boo, huh?!

all because I told a lie.

Ask, and ye shall receive.

1: This morning in my prayer, I asked that I might be able to come across someone that I could serve in some way. At work, there was a big group of new people moving in, and one lady was nervous because she felt like she didn't retain any of the information she had just learned throughout the whole day of training. So I let her watch me do a couple calls, let her ask me as many questions as she needed, and listened in on her first call in case she still had questions. Which is something all ATLs do, but today was my first day as an ATL. See? Ask, and ye shall receive.

2: Speaking of ATL. I think it was a week or two ago that my supervisor called me into the training room and told me that he was going to promote me to be an ATL in a couple of weeks. He said that along with the promotion came a 50 cent raise! Today, he called me in again.
"You ready to become an ATL now!?"
"yeah! sure!"
"How much did I tell you your raise would be?"
"50 cents. So that puts me at $9.50. but we could make it $10.00 if you want! hah..:)"
"Okay. Let's make it $10.00."
[Not to mention that being an ATL also comes with weekly bonuses! woot!]
I'm tellin' ya! Ask, and ye shall receive!

3: Tonight at the gym, I went to one of those sculpting classes. I've kind of been wanting to do a kickboxing class for quite some time, so after my class got over, I asked if they had any kickboxing classes. The instructor said that they didn't anymore, but she was the one that used to teach it and she'd do one with me right then! A couple of people from the previous class stayed and it was so much fun. We're gonna try to make it every week! ASK, and ye shall receive.

Love, Kay

it's fine.

It's been forever, blah, blah, etc.

My internet has been down for an eternity. I've been anxious to get it back up for two reasons. 1 being that I really need to do my college grant application. Obviously blogging comes before that. Second being that I needed to purchase my Pass of all Passes.

Who knew that the Lehi Trafalga had free rock climbing if you have the pass of all passes? who knew? Why didn't you tell me earlier?! You all knew I fell in love with it down at SUU! (one of the only things I fell in love with there...boo Cedar City.) Anyway, I am stoked. You should all hit it up as well.

Guess what happened today?
I woke up thirty minutes later than I should have.
Usually this type of thing gets me really p.o'd,
cause then I'm scrambling and I'll be late for work and all that great stuff.
but today I realized that I have the choice to make my day great if I want to.
and so I just simply didn't let it bug me!
and all this stupid ridiculous stuff kept happening at work
and I'm telling ya, I could have had a really rotten day.
but I told myself that I could have the best day ever.

And that's what happened.

I dare you to try it.

p.s. The boyfriend realllllly knows how to grill a good burger.
Go ask him for one.
He'll prove it.

boo.

Dear Disneyland Plans,
I'm sorry to say that I have to forget about you.
Because no matter how much I want to go through with you,
everyone else in the world wants to crush you.

ah, life.

Tonight was spent with a couple of my favorite boys.
<3 Matthew Meyers, Matthew Ludlow, Jordan Gunderson, Braden Perucca <3
As we sat eating our snow cones, I realized that all of these boys will be on missions by the end of the year.
They're basically my only friends these days.
What will I do when they're all gone?
Who will I pass time with?
I feel like I need some girl friends.
Any takers?
I like watching the notebook whilst eating pineapple.
And I'll even share.
