Sparky.

11.10.2012

You know what's exciting? My really really really good friend Matthew (Sparky*) Finn comes home on Wednesday! Remember two years ago when all my friends started leaving on their missions? Remember how exciting/depressing that was? I'm so, so excited for all of them to start coming HOME from their missions! I'm especially excited about this one. He really helped make my high school experience. We was into me during my most awkward high school days, and we even dated for a while. But mostly, we've just been best friends who enjoy creme soda runs and mid-day drives. He's never let me down and I know I can always count on him. These past two years have been so incredible for him, and he's grown into such a powerful person. I'm so excited to have my dear friend back!! And I'm getting ridiculously excited for all my soon-to-be returned missionary friends that will follow within the next couple of months.

Plus, it gives me hope that someday two years will actually pass for my other Matthew, and he'll come home someday.

Isn't it crazy how time passes? I remember graduating 2 and a half years ago and thinking how awesome it was...now I'm like, who gives? Ha. Just kidding. All I'm saying is, time always goes by. It never stops passing. I guess I need to be more careful in how I'm spending that time.

Anyway. Welcome home to the greatest friend a girl could ask for! Can't wait to see you, Sparky!!

*Yes, I realize that it's weird to call a grown man Sparky. Old habits die hard, you know?

Back in Primary

sunshine
Oh, has it been ages? Did you possibly think I may have passed away the day after Valentine's Day?
Well, I am back to tell you about my new church calling!
Last Sunday, my bishop called me into his office and asked me to be the teacher for the Valiant 11 primary girls.
Of course I excitedly accepted.
Yesterday was my first day in the class. It took me 5 seconds to know how much I am going to love being in there with them. They are all so beautiful and precious...they seem so young. It made me think of myself at that age, and then I knew exactly why I had been called to that age group. Ironically, that year, 11 going on 12, being in 6th grade, was the worst year for me. I was always the shyest of my friends, which I think made me seem more naive and innocent. Not only did I seem that way though, I really was. And much to my surprise, many of my friends who were once the same way, were changing really quickly. Maybe I was older than most of you by the time you learned about this stuff (I already said I was naive!), but some of my closest friends started making small changes that had major negative affects on me. Swearing, drugs, making out with guys  (haha) and little things like this seemed huge to me at the time. I was constantly uncomfortable, and getting used to it was just not an option for me. I told my friends straight up how I felt and I had to let some of them go. Isn't that funny? Now, I don't often even make a comment when a friend swears. And THAT is why I think I got this calling. To help me remember that those little things are HUGE. That was the year my testimony grew more than any other year, and hopefully I can have some sort of impact on those adorable innocent girls.
Already after 2 hours they have made the biggest impact on me.

Also, you all heard Matthew got his mission call to Frankfurt, Germany, right? He leaves May 16th, and is so so so excited.
I know you want to, throw all of your advice at me for my waiting time! GO!

guess who...

(L-R, T-B)
1: Sparky.
2: My Confidant.
3: Woodchip.
4: C-Prows. (let it be noted, that in all of our pictures together, we're never actually together. It almost made me cry when I came to this realization.)
5: J. Henson Walker.
6: Salt.
7: Jacob.
8: Jared Hall. (uhh...not a missionary. But I still miss him, and I needed to fill up space.)

I wish all of you knew these boys as well as I do. I mean, you should read the letter Carter (c-prows) sent me. I love being able to witness, albeit secondhand, all that they are learning. Braden said that he saw Carter at the MTC and he had a whole new special light in his eyes. That's what the MTC does to these guys, folks. And even though I know that that's where these guys ought to be, out there, serving with all their hearts,

I just...ah. I miss them.

Note to oldies who read this: Don't think that I'm a little munchkin just because I have missionary friends and get excited by letters. I'll soon be older than 21 as well.

P.S. I got a cute little dog decoration thing with my most recent purchase at Victoria's Secret. If you don't agree that that place is utter spectacular-ness, than I would invite you to not read this blog. Just kidding, mom.

P.P.S. I am pretty confident that the size of this picture will be a little bit into my other margin, but I don't even care, blogger world. Deal.

1: All of my roommates are out.
2: I am feeling a little chilly.
3: I am enjoying a bottle of water.
4: My legs are sore because I wanted to see how I would do running over 7 miles. (not well.)
5: I wish I could chill with my brother Nathan.
6: I miss having less responsibility.
7: and more money.
8: I am feeling like...Cedar City is a great town to live in if:

a: You like cowboys.
b: You don't like having fun.
c: Your grandpa lives close.

I choose C.

Don't get me wrong, I am loving it here! but I haven't been here for very many weekends...and the weekends I AM here, just aren't up to par. We'll see if Kelsey and I find anything great to do with this one.

I think the only reason I am feeling like this is because I just signed up for my second semester classes on Wednesday night. and now I'm just...ready to be an elementary school teacher already! Today I found out that starting elementary school teachers in Utah make anywhere from $38,000-$51,000. Isn't that great! I mean, If I was going to be single for the rest of my life, that wouldn't be a lot of money. But I'll get married someday and that will be a nice little addition to my husband's income until our children arrive. I'm so excited to get paid for coloring, teaching letters and numbers, and watching talent shows, and show and tells and all that cool stuff!! It really will be fantastic.

Wanna hear a funny story?
I think it was Tuesday when I stepped into my car, turned my head, and saw a FREAKING SPIDER DANGLING FROM A BIG WEB. INSIDE my car. and when I jumped out of my car from fear of that leetle green spidey...well...I lost it. So i jumped back in and drove straight to a car wash. and i said "vacuum this out please!!!" So I go into the lobby to wait for them to clean and vacuum my car and there are three missionaries sitting there next to the only empty seat. So I sit down next to them and one of them says "have you ever heard of the LDS, or Mormon, church?"

haha. Right then and there I decided that I was going to pretend I was pretty clueless as to what they were talking about.

"Well..I just moved here for school, and..well..I'm in UTAH so I have heard a little about it. But not much." I said.
"Do you think you'd be interested in learning more?"

With this question, I raised my hand to my chin and said "ummm..."
and one of them missionaries says "wait! She's wearing a CTR ring!!"

I rarely lie, because I ALWAYS get caught.
Like this one time in high school. I was having a bad day so I told my teacher that I had an appointment with a counselor in the office so he would let me leave. Just a few minutes after, my mother, knowing I was having a bad day, called to check me out and take me to lunch. So when the office sends an aid with the check-out slip, my teacher is all "she's at an SEOP I thought...."

anyway.

dang them missionaries. I only wanted to give them some practice!!

Have a good weekend.
Love, Kay.

See, every Wednesday, I write my missionary friends..

7.17.2010

and my work load is about to increase significantly.

So many of my friends are going on Missions super soon!
Isn't that so exciting?!

Basically, the next 1,000 Sundays of my life comprise of missionary farewells.

Joshua Stewart- Asuncion, Paraguay: Spanish speaking.
Jacob Cooper-Tokyo, Japan: Japanese speaking.

Can you believe that not ONE of those guys is staying in the states?!
I'm beginning to believe that they don't even send missionaries inside America anymore!

I'm so excited for all of them though..it's so crazy!

and do you know what ELSE?!

Remember this handsome guy?
{the one on the left}
He comes home in 5 months.

I'm significantly excited for that one.

With love from your very happy friend,
Kalynn Eve.
