BASEBALL GAMES + BACHELORETTE PARTY + LEHI ROUNDUP

6.26.2017

I've been telling Jake that he needs to find some sort of baseball league that he can play in for life. Going to his games is one of my favorite things to do every week! He plays on a team with a bunch of guys that he works with, and I get such a kick out of watching them. Plus, it's just one of those situations where you feel like nothing could go wrong. There I am at the fields, typically as the sun goes down after a hot summer day, watching my favorite human beam because he's doing something that he absolutely loves, which also happens to be my favorite sport, AND I get to sit by his parents; two incredible, loving, hilarious people who have me belly-laughing every single time. For me, it's one of the dreamiest scenarios! I love these summer nights.

On Wednesday night, I got to go to Paisley's bachelorette party. I flippin' love bachelorette parties, haha! It's something about how happy the bride-to-be always is, and something about being with your best girl friends, eating good food, and having fuuuuun conversations. ;)

We went to dinner at Tepanyaki, and then went back to Caitie's for treats and presents. Paisley got lots of nice lingerie, lots of tips from the married ladies, and we all left full and happy, haha.

Maybe this is too personal for the blogosphere, but getting to spend so much time with the Hasler's sometimes leaves me feeling pretty overwhelmed. You know, in the "my cup runneth over" kind of way. I just can't believe I'm dating this guy who's family I already love so much, and who make me feel so loved, and who are so good to be around! If I'm bein' honest, I've cried the happy kind of tears about it. (more than once, haha.)

It's little moments where I feel it most. Like when I'm eating ice cream sandwiches with little Jakey (Jake's nephew) after cleaning up trash in the yard, and making him giggle by putting hair-ties in his hair while we watch Jake play catch with another nephew. Or when I'm sitting squished between a bunch of Hasler's at the rodeo. Or when we're sitting on the back patio on a warm Sunday night, eating the best grilled chicken known to man, talking about growing gardens and raising chickens. No matter how you look at it, I feel immeasurably blessed, and I feel joy. I like the word joy, because I feel like it somehow encompasses the hard things, like the ache in my heart left from my dad's passing, but at the same time includes a very true and real happiness.

But seriously.
My cup runneth over.

BYU BASEBALL + KONG KORN

6.12.2017

^^ Signature Jake face, haha

After spending another day at the hospital with my dad, Jake saved the day again and took me out to the BYU baseball game. It was the longest baseball game ever, haha. We got there two hours late, and it was only in the bottom of the 4th inning! But we wanted to stay until the very end, because there were going to be fireworks that night.

During the game, Cami texted me that Kong Korn at Macey's was on sale. !!!! That's a good friend; she knows it's my favorite. So as soon as the game was over, Jake and I went to the grocery store to get some of that delicious Kong Korn, and we sure stocked up! And we made sure to get some Waffle Crisp too, 'cause you really can't beat waffle crisp. The best comfort foods, amiright? Grateful for Jake and his ability to distract me better than anyone. Don't know what I'd do without that guy.

DAD'S HOSPITALIZATION + JAKE'S BASEBALL GAME

May 9th, 2017: This was a hard day. Soon after I got to work for the day, my mom texted me that my dad had passed out in the stairwell at work. I immediately ran home to be with Nathan so that my mom could go to the hospital to be with my dad.

Back in December, test results told us that the many, many, MANY tumors throughout my dad's body were finally gone, and all that was left of his cancer were two tiny tumors left on the brain. Recently, however, after doing more tests, we found out that he had 9 new tumors on the brain, and the old ones had stopped responding to treatment. So hearing that my dad had passed out at work was scary.

As soon as Nathan's helper arrived, I left to go be with my dad at the hospital, along with my mom and my brother Derek. Tests were inconclusive as to what caused my dad to pass out. Doctors didn't think it was the cancer and were still trying to figure things out. They decided to keep him at least over night, and it was a Tuesday, so I left to go take Nathan to watch my boyfriend Jake's baseball game.

We got to sit with Jake's dad at the game. I wish that you could all meet and know Jake's dad. He's one of the kindest souls and funniest humans I've ever met. He had me laughing the entire game! Something that I didn't think was possible after that rough day. Being a that game with Nathan and Jake and Jake's dad gave me a lot of peace. During the game I got a strong feeling that no matter what happened with my dad, everything would be okay, and I would be taken care of. I think that's when I knew that my dad wouldn't last much longer. But I still felt peace. It was a fierce confirmation for me that Heavenly Father loves me and is in control.

And it was great.

8.13.2011

Last night my old roommates and friends from SUU came down and we had a sleepover!!!

The night was filled with endless conversation. Although some of us didn't get along well while living together, we were always able to have really good late-night talks and it felt really good to do that again. These girls really are stellar, and I know I still have a lot to learn from all of them.
*Disclaimers on the picture: 1: We forgot to take pictures the night before, so the only picture we had time to take was right after breakfast..that's why we all look our best. 2: Kelsey is not pictured because she only had about 45 minutes to spend with us because it was either her little brother's brother's birthday party, or her boyfriend had a family thing she had to go to. She claimed both excuses.
[ha. love you anyway, Kels.]
SO good to see and hang out with these girls whom I've been missing all summer long.

We were up until three thirty in morning, which pretty much goes without saying, and then I got up at eight o'clock to feed Nathan, so I've been kickin' it zombie style all day long.
Matthew, however, insisted that I go mini-golfing with him and Nathan at Trafalga.
So that's exactly what we did.

I know Nathan loved getting out of the house and we all had so much fun.

Wanna know something else that's great?
Matthew hit a grand slam at his game today.
We talked about our dream life of him going pro and playing in the MLB.
We'll move to Texas and I'll go to every game with our 6 children all dressed in his team apparel.
Hopefully he'll play for the Braves.
{slash the Indians. :] }
Cross your fingers for us!

saturdays rock my socks.

3.05.2011

Today has been such a good day.

-I had a babysitting job that was supposed to go from 10-2:30, and I was supposed to leave when the older sister got back home, so the mom just left me a check for $45.00. Lucky me, the sister got back at 12:30! So I got paid $45, for only 2 and a half hours.

-When I got back to my room, Adam and Kelsey were playing a game of nuts. I joined in, and kicked their butts in only 3 rounds. (they had already even played a couple!)

-When it was time for homework, I drove around to find a good spot outside to lay out and do it, since it was such a beautiful day outside. I found the perfect spot right next to a baseball field where a game was going on. So I got to watch baseball AND do my 3 ridiculously long math assignments at the same time.

-I fell asleep out there on the grass. I woke up to a bunch of Asains surrounding me and talking loudly at me in Korean or something. I looked at them blankly and said "come on..I know you speak English." and then one says "we want to play soccer." And then I look around me and realize that I am laying in the middle of a soccer field, and a game is about to start. I got a lot of weird looks from the parents. haha.

-I came back home and read my scriptures. That's always a happy thing. :)

-I also wrote in my journal! It was about time...

-And now, the boyfriend should be home any minute, and I get to spend the rest of the night with him.

Did you have a good Satuday? Tell me about it!

Love, Kalynn.

p.s. Only one more week until Spring Break!!

A weekend comprises the two traditionally non-working days in a seven-day week..

Family reunion.

yay??

To be honest I wasn't the most excited person in the world for it. But looking back, I don't really know why I wasn't. Because it was a blast, and I should've known that it would be. I always have a good time with the whole fam damily. (Grandpa Stott's favorite thing to say. {I'm his spitting image.})

The plans were to meet up at Discovery Park at noon. What really happened though was, me and mother and grandpa Stott and my step-grandma Zelda sat around at the park until 2:00 when everyone got there. We started things off by taking turns in groups playing bocci ball and badminton.

  • although, this little kid {my cousin's son} tried to accomplish both at the same time. Adorable, yeah?

Other activities included a family BBQ, skits/program, learning about the elderly of the family, chatting, coloring, crafts, water balloon volleyball, pinata, eating candy, and..
the water fight.
My family brought water guns as part of our skit thing and that's where it all began. I had all the little munchkins on my side as we tried to get Julie and Derek. We ran around and around that pavilion doing our best to soak my older siblings. When Derek and I were drenched we decided to take a picture together.
  • That's when this little beauty was captured.
Just as Julie snapped the pic., my cousin D.J. comes around with a huge bowl of water and totally pwns us unaware. I have to admit: he got us good.
don't worry though. With a really great plan, we got him back. :)
  • here's us together soaking at the end of the night. {I promise he's just as wet and I am, you just can't tell cause his hair isn't as long.}

Saturday presented a baseball game in Brigham City.

That's just a random city about 2 hours north of here.

It was a lot of fun. Driving two hours with some of my favorite people {Matthew Ludlow, Matthew Finn, Alyssa Jensen...And Benji Shepard, but I don't really know him.} was certainly a great time. Whether it was racing the hispanic kids that kept waving at us, Matt's riddles, not being able to find a bathroom, too much candy and popcorn, losing 24-2 {when those boys are normally really good}, being squished by tired boys, or watching fireworks and being celebratory of Steel Days on the way home, I wasn't bored for a single second.

x.O.
-Kalynn Eve.

There is absolutely nothing better..
