It was back in August that I bought tickets for Jake and I to go see Thriller at Tuacahn in St. George! I get so excited for it every single year! We had to drive down the morning of and then back home early the next morning, but I think it was worth it!
(If you ask Jake, you might not get the same answer, haha. poor guy!)

ST. GEORGE + SUNDAY DINNER

5.02.2017

This weekend my niece had her end-of-year dance recital with her hip-hop studio. It was something that I definitely didn't want to miss, so I asked my sister-in-law Kenzie to drive down with me. Lizzy did such a great job! It was so much fun watching her dance, see her confidence come out, and watch her having so much fun with it! I honestly was so proud of her, like I constantly am. She's always trying new things. She's so brave.

Being in St. George was exactly what I needed this weekend! The warm weather, acting immature with my sister at church (she totally started it...) and playing nonstop with the cutest nieces and nephews in all the land make for one perfect weekend.

I got home on Sunday just in time to play with more nephews out on the trampoline before it got too cold and dark. We ate ice cream cones and played trampoline dodgeball until my legs gave out, haha. They're always getting me outside, and I love it.

I have a bad cold now that may have stemmed from going nonstop this weekend (and I probably caught something from Nathan too) but I really can't complain with a life this good!

ST. GEORGE + TENDER MERCIES

1.24.2017

This winter weather has really been getting to me lately, so this past weekend I decided to take a trip down to St. George to visit my sister and her cute family! Being among the red rocks that I'm obsessed with and people that I love so much was exactly what I needed. We played outside at the park, wrapped up in blankets and played the worm game, and ate all the bad food that fit in our stomachs. I never feel more at home than when I'm in St. George. There's no better place.

I've been thinking a lot lately about tender mercies. I don't know how else to put it, so I'll just say that life has been a little bit...weird...for me lately. And I found myself in the position where I really needed to start looking for those tender mercies in my life. But I have to tell you, when I started looking, they were everywhere! I think I had been inadvertently ignoring the many small good things happening for me and going on all around me.

While I murmur about this stuff I've been calling my "quarter-life crisis," (haha, drama queen over heeeeree)
I really can't complain.
I love life. I love my family. I love my friends.
When I say "I'm 'working'," it means I'm either taking videos or editing them, and that means I'm really lucky.
Maybe there are many places (geographically + situationally speaking) that I'd rather be right now,
but I do know that the future is bright, and the things I'm learning right now will take me far in life.

Patience, young Padawan.
(Star Wars marathon, anyone??)

Wednesday-isms.

1: I've been coughing up a storm all day long. (sorry to those people I sit next to at work...)
2: Matthew pretended to like Panda Express because he knows that I like it and he felt bad that I never got to eat there just because he didn't like it. He's too good to me.
3: I am sort of missing my straight-across bangs...who votes I snip em? like ^^ up thurr.. but JUST the bangs. Not the rest.
4: I am definitely missing Abigail, Emily Sue, and Braden.
5: Not super excited about school starting again..
6: Promised Matthew I'd watch the Pokemon series after we finished the Friends series....ha.
7: Getting excited for the weekend.
8: Still can't believe my brother and best friend is getting married a week from Sunday.
9: Wishing I wasn't too sick to start some of my New Year's Resolutions..
10: Feeling a super strong urge to make a trip to the warmth of my St. George.

Oh my gosh, those are sheep! I thought they were rocks.

3.23.2011

I like Kelsey a lot.
So much, in fact, that I'll probably make her a bridesmaid if I ever get married.
Today she told me she'd be back from class at 3:00 so we could go get cupcakes.
I'd been craving one (some) all day.
So at 3:08, I sent her a text.
"Getchur butt home! We need cupcakes!"
And then upon the realization that I hadn't been able to visit my sister this week,
We decided we'd go get our cupcakes in St. George at 25 main.
since it's the greatest place to get cupcakes and all.

Those little munchkins each ate two cupcakes a piece!

I'm glad that I have a sister that let's me visit her so often.
And sometimes steal her kids and feed them lots of sugar.
I'm also glad I have a best friend that likes cupcakes as much as I do
and is willing to drive an hour each way just to get some.
I also think the boyfriend likes it when I bring him home surprise cupcakes. :)

Happy Wednesday!

Amongst all these farewells, it's been nice to have someone RETURN from a mission.

And that someone is my dear brother, Adam.
And he loves me so much that he came down to Cedar City
JUST to visit me!
/slash/
to take my hot roommate out on a date...

haha. :) I told you I've been doing some matchmaking.
First, we all climbed up to St. George's ocean and chilled
*literally*
for a bit before we headed on over to Iceberg for some delicious shakes.

And...guys...how long has it been you've all been lazer tagging and glow-in-the-dark mini-golfing?
years? Centuries? I know, right?! But it was so much fun!
I missed that Lazer Mania place.

also. Matthew makes my heart happy. Now just TRY and tell me that they wouldn't make a cute couple.
Cross your fingers with me!

I could totally deal with that girl being around for forever.

Here's to a three day weekend! I hope you all enjoy yours. :)
Love, Kalynn.

"Perhaps imagination is only intelligence having fun."

Lately, I've had a lot of fun:

Eating at Brick Oven with Matthew.

Kicking butt in Black Jack at Casino Night.

Going to each of our favorite pizza places.
Kay: Little Caesars.
Matt: Papa Murphy's.
Em: Pizza Hut.

Playing Black Jack Dare, and having to stand in Alex's toilet...
yuck.

Watching Alex and Emily suck at suck or blow, and ending up having to kiss.
:]
I'm a fetchin' matchmaker. da best in da town, yo.

Getting cute notes from Emily to brighten my morning.

What do you have fun doing?

Adam countdown: 2 days!!!

it's almost 7:25.

1.31.2011

I got my top rope sticker today!
That means that I am becoming a kick butt rock climber.
Becoming, I said.
My shin hurts from when my arms got so shaky that I couldn't hold on anymore and I fell,
all the while scraping my leg against the rock wall.
P90X was easier when I first started than it was today.
Don't ask why.
Probably because it was a Monday?
I'm getting extremely sick of cafeteria food..
Tomorrow's weather forecast for Brian Head
equals FRESH powder. :]
How did Emily even get awesome muscles like those in her legs?
Math test on Wednesday.
History test on Friday.
Political Science test next Monday.
Adam comes homes next Tuesday.
I've got such a cool family...
I really really really really really really wish I'd never ever cut my hair.
I hate short hair.
I'll never do it again.
I'm so, so, so sick of cafeteria food.
Every time I inhale I smell laundry detergent.
The only thing is...no one has done laundry in these parts in ages.
I think my senses are conspiring again me.
Yuck. I hate the cafeteria food.

^^Regurgitation of the last 75 seconds of my consciousness. ^^

I'll say it: I miss living the St. George desert. I loved living in a world that was painted red. Even though it lacked all things green and any hint of the seasons winter and fall, It was perfect. On days like today I just miss it. Days when the world is pushing past you and all you want do to is sit, drink chocolate milk through a straw, and let your thoughts have a 30 minute recess from engulfing your brain entirely.

It's days like these that I hate this barren ice-land called Cedar City.

But it's fine.
It's days like tomorrow when I'll love it.
